Vaccines protect you and your family against certain diseases, so it's important to keep them up to date. Medical experts recommend.

It is important to review your immunization records with your healthcare provider to review new and repeat injections at the right time. Vaccines are not only for children but adults need them too. Professor Libby Richards, Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind said. The shots that adults need depend on their age and health history. Vaccines help the immune system fight infections faster and more efficiently.

Common vaccines include: Shingles, pneumonia, Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis), influenza, MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), hepatitis A and B and human papillomavirus (HPV) along with other types.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the flu shot is very important, especially during severe flu seasons. You need to get a flu shot every year, Richards noted.

Vaccination schedule should be updated to ensure timely vaccination, which helps prevent disease

Since October 2019, at least 26 million Americans have had the flu, resulting in the deaths of at least 14,000 adults and 92 children. In its latest update on February 14, 2020, the CDC states that influenza activity remains high in the United States.

Even if you had other vaccines in your childhood, their effectiveness may weaken over time, so you may no longer be protected.

Pertussis, tetanus, and so on, are perfect examples of a vaccine that needs to be repeated throughout one's life. The shingles vaccine is good for 5 years and is recommended for adults 50 and older. Pneumonia vaccine, recommended for adults age 65 and older. The CDC also recommends that a booster and diphtheria vaccine be given every 10 years.

The hepatitis A and B vaccines protect against certain liver infections that can occur through contact with infected body fluids or food and water. Each person has different immunization requirements. So, talk to your healthcare provider to see what you need and when you need it, because vaccination can save your life by helping prevent or limit illness.
